Waxed Paper...
Whilst researching some of the samplers held by East Lothian Museums Service I came across this lovely little piece made by Betty Andreson of Haddington, East Lothian.
It is made using coloured wax on paper (applied with a small knife or a needle) in the style of a stitched sampler. It was probably made as an engagement gift - it features entwined hearts and love-birds, geometric designs and hearts in different colours, partially obscured by darkening and dirt. The maker has inscribed her name along the bottom BETTY ANDERSON IN HADINTON.
